Though there has been no official press release from the WSL word from reliable sources is that the Krui Pro 2026 has been quietly axed.

Heading into 2026 the World Surfing League had yet to add the Krui Pro to it's scheduled events. Mid May the event still remained in limbo due to budget restrictions.

In past years the event was not announced until a few weeks before the opening ceremony and all sorts of rumours circulated in the Krui area.

Krui Pro 2026 event updates

June 15 2026

Though no official notification was released by the WSL there is now no doubt that the 2026 Krui Pro has been axed. It's debateable wheter the event will return in 2027. Numerous businesses in the Kru region believe that the event negatively impacts the Surf Tourism Industry.

Still no official word from the WSL but Krui businesses consider the event has been quietly cancelled.

Word from reliable sources is that the Krui Pro 2026 has been cancelled. However there is still no official announcement from the WSL or Pesisir Barat government.

Only 8 weeks to June and there's still no official word from the World Surfing League or Pesisir Barat Tourism Office. With no competitors making advanced bookings Krui businesses are of the opinion this years event has been quietly cancelled.

Word on the street in Tanjung Setia is there will be no Krui Pro 2026. However don't start planning your Krui adventure yet as there's still no official word from the World Surfing League or Pesisir Barat Tourism Office.

Acting Secretary of the Pesisir Barat Tourism Office has indicated their commitment to the event but the inadequate regional budget makes it impossible to independantly fund the event.
