Melasti Beach Marang Lampung Sumatra

Melasti Beach Lampung Sumatra

Melasti beach is located in Marang approx 14km south of Tanjung Setia beach. It deserves a mention because of the ornate Balinese temple that overlooks the ocean.

Perhaps worth a visit during the Melasti ceremony which typically takes place three days before Nyepi (the Hindu New Year in Bali). The Melasti ceremony is a sacred event primarily for the local Balinese. In Bali tourists are often welcomed to observe and participate in the rituals. However here in Pesisir Barat it would be advised to gain permission to attend from the local Balinese community.

The beach itself is most notable for the amount of garbage that visiting tourists have dumped everywhere.

Bali Village surf break is here but it's arguably the most fickle spot in the area, even worse than Lintik. A wave for the truely desperate ... perhaps not even worth checking out.
